Module 1
Why Tallow?
Thrive Tallow was founded by Sarah, who developed the range after years of searching for gentler, more natural options for her own very sensitive skin. That's the story worth knowing when a customer asks "why tallow?" — it's a brand born from a genuine personal search for simple, natural skincare, not just another moisturiser.
Tallow is a natural, nutrient-dense fat rendered from ethically sourced, grass-fed and grass-finished Australian cows. Its structure closely mirrors the oils our own skin produces, which is why it absorbs so easily instead of sitting on top of the skin.
Rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, plus essential fatty acids
Deeply hydrates and nourishes the skin
No synthetic fillers or fragrances added to the base
Made in Australia, on the Sunshine Coast, in Thrive Tallow's own lab
Good to know: because tallow is an animal-derived ingredient, these products are not vegan — worth mentioning if a customer asks, so they can make an informed choice.

Module 3
Why Customers Love Tallow (And All the Ways They Use It)
Here's the honest truth: every jar in the sample set is genuinely multi-purpose. Customers don't use one for "just their face" and another for "just their body" — most people land on one favourite and use it everywhere. So before you memorise "use this for that," it's more useful to understand why people become so loyal to tallow in the first place.
Why it works so well
It closely mirrors skin's own oils. Tallow's fatty acid profile is remarkably similar to human sebum, so it absorbs easily instead of sitting on top of the skin or clogging pores.
It's nutrient-dense. It naturally contains vitamins A, D, E and K, along with essential fatty acids — all naturally present, with no synthetic additives needed.
It's about as pure as skincare gets. Thrive Tallow's is food-grade quality — clean enough that people cook with it — with no synthetic fillers, fragrances or preservatives hiding in the base.
It's rooted in tradition, not trend. Rendered animal fat has been used as a skin balm for generations; Thrive Tallow is a modern, ethically sourced take on something genuinely old and proven.
The founder story is real. Sarah created Thrive Tallow after turning to tallow for her own very sensitive skin, when conventional products weren't giving her the results she wanted — that's why the brand exists.
Where customers actually use it
Because it's this simple and this gentle, don't be surprised when a customer tells you they use their jar for more than one thing. Common uses to know about:
Face — a daily moisturiser, either on its own or layered under other products
Body — all-over hydration, plus targeted use on rough spots like elbows, knees, hands and heels
Lips — a simple, nourishing lip balm
Babies & little ones — delicate skin (Bare Balm, thanks to its two-ingredient, fragrance-free formula)
Dry, tight or flaky patches — anywhere skin is feeling dry and in need of extra moisture
This is exactly why the "which one do I recommend" table on the next page is a starting point for a conversation, not a strict rule. The real question to ask a customer isn't "what's it for?" — it's "do you want something rich and protective, something light for your face, or something completely fragrance-free?" Texture and scent preference will guide you there more often than the specific use case will.
Module 4
Which One Do I Recommend?
Since all three are multi-purpose, use this table as a quick starting point based on texture, scent and skin feel — not a rigid rule for what each product is "for."
Customer says...
Recommend
Why
"I have really sensitive skin" or "it's for my baby"
Bare Balm
Only 2 ingredients, zero fragrance, gentlest option
"I want something rich for my whole body, really dry skin"
Original Tallow Balm
Richest texture, best for deep hydration & protective layering
"I need a light daily face moisturiser, I'm oily/combination"
Whipped Tallow Moisturiser
Airy, fast-absorbing, made for facial use
"Does it have a scent?"
Bare Balm = no · Original & Whipped = yes (Lemon Lavender)
Scent is the easiest way to split the range in three
Module 5
Practice: Real Customer Scenarios
Read each scenario, decide which product you'd recommend, then reveal the suggested answer.
Customer: "My toddler has really sensitive skin and I want something gentle and natural."
Bare Balm — fragrance-free, only two ingredients, gentle enough for a little one's delicate skin.
Customer: "My skin gets really oily by midday but still feels tight and dehydrated."
Whipped Tallow Moisturiser — lightweight, non-greasy, formulated for combination/oily skin and dehydration & dullness.
Customer: "It's winter and my hands and body are so dry and cracked."
Original Tallow Balm — rich, protective, designed for deep hydration over face and body.
Customer: "I love the smell of your products but I'm pregnant and want to double check what's in it."
All three are made from simple, natural ingredients and many customers use them during pregnancy — but always suggest they check with their healthcare provider if they have any personal concerns, rather than giving medical advice yourself.
Module 6
Common Questions You'll Get Asked
"Is this vegan?"
No — tallow is rendered animal fat, so these products are not vegan. Be upfront about this; it's better for the customer to know than to be surprised later.
"Will it make me smell like beef?"
No. The tallow is purified and slow-rendered, and Original & Whipped are scented with lemon & lavender essential oils. Bare Balm is unscented and has a very neutral, clean smell.
"Is it suitable for all skin types?"
Yes — the range is designed to work for sensitive, dry, combination and oily skin. For anyone with known sensitivities, recommend a patch test first.
"How long will a jar last / how much should I use?"
A little goes a long way — a small, pea-to-almond-sized amount per application is usually enough for face or a body area.
"How should I store it?"
Cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat — there are no synthetic preservatives, so a stable environment keeps it at its best.
"How much does it cost?"
At Chemist Warehouse, all three core products — Bare Balm, Original Tallow Balm and Whipped Tallow Moisturiser — are priced the same, at $32.99. That's cheaper than thrivetallow.com.au, where they're $39.95 — a genuine perk of buying in-store that's worth mentioning to customers.
What if your store is out of stock of a customer's preferred product or scent?
Suggest another product in the range that suits their skin needs (see Module 4).
